Fabric Loafers

All fabric, and that changes the shoe completely: lighter, cooler and softer than anything else we carry. Mostly women's, with a good share of kids' pairs. This is the summer end of the rack.

What fabric is good at

It is not trying to be leather, and it is better than leather at two specific things.

1. Heat
   A woven upper lets air through. On a hot day that is the difference between a shoe you keep on and one you take off under the table.

2. Weight
   The lightest thing in the shop, and the easiest to pack. Our pick as the second pair in a carry-on.

3. Color
   Fabric takes prints and bright dye in a way leather does not, which is why the loudest pairs we have are on this rack.

And what it asks in return

Fabric absorbs. A spill soaks in rather than sitting on top, so deal with it quickly and let the pair dry fully in open air before it goes back on.

Check the care label on the pair itself. Some fabric uppers take a gentle hand wash and come out fine, others do not, and the difference is in the sole rather than the cloth.
