Women's Soft Loafers

These are the pairs you can fold in your hand. Soft uppers, thin flexible soles, almost no structure. Mostly faux leather here, then leather and fabric in roughly equal parts. The shoe you put on when the day is going to be long.

What soft buys you, and what it costs

A soft shoe is kind on the first day and asks something of you later. Worth knowing both halves.

  1. No break-in
Nothing rigid to rub. A soft pair fits from the first hour, which is the whole reason people come back to them.

  2. It packs flat
These go in a bag without fighting for the space. Our pick as a second pair for travel.

  3. Less under the foot
A thin sole means you feel the ground. Fine on a floor, tiring on concrete for eight hours. If you are on your feet all day, a thicker sole will serve you better.

How to make them last

A soft shoe loses its shape when it is stored crushed. Keep the toe stuffed when it is off, even with paper, and the pair keeps the shape it was cut with instead of collapsing.

Rotate them. Two days in a row and the lining never dries, which is what actually finishes a soft pair early.
