Men's Wedding Loafers

Shoes for the groom and for everybody invited. A loafer is the one dress shoe you can keep on from the ceremony to the end of the night, and this rack is built around that: faux leather, glossy finishes, leather and suede.

Choosing by your role in the day

The groom and the guest are not solving the same problem, and the shoe should say so.

  1. The groom
A high shine, in black or a very dark tone. It photographs as formal and it sits right next to a tuxedo. One glossy pair covers this and every evening for years.

  2. The guest
A matte leather or faux leather pair in black, brown or burgundy. Dressed enough for the day, and wearable again on a normal Monday.

  3. A summer or outdoor wedding
Suede in navy, camel or green, and a sole with some grip. Grass and a smooth leather sole are a bad pairing.

3 mistakes to avoid when buying wedding loafers

  1. Wearing them new on the day
Whatever the material, put them on for two short evenings beforehand. A wedding is twelve hours on your feet, and that is not the day to find out where a shoe rubs.

  2. Matching the shoes to the suit exactly
Black shoes with a black suit, fine. Black shoes with a navy suit, also fine, and often better. What does not work is a brown that nearly matches the suit without quite doing it.

  3. Forgetting the sole
A smooth new leather sole on a polished floor is genuinely slippery. Scuff it on concrete before the ceremony, or pick a rubber one.
