What the tassel changes

It is decoration, but it is decoration that carries a particular register.

1. It fills the front of the shoe
   Where a penny loafer has a flat strap, a tassel pair has movement. That reads dressier from across a room, even on a flat sole.

A word on upkeep

The tassel is the part that wears first, because it swings against the shoe with every step. Check that it is stitched rather than glued, and give it a brush when you brush the rest.
