Beige Loafers

Beige is the neutral that does what white is supposed to do, without the upkeep. More than a hundred pairs here for women, men and kids, mostly faux leather, then suede and synthetic suede, with some fabric.

Why beige works harder than it looks

It sits between the two colors most people already own and settles the argument between them.

  1. It goes with warm and cool
Navy, gray, brown, olive, denim. Beige is one of the few colors that does not have to pick a side.

  2. It lengthens the leg
A shoe close to your skin tone extends the line instead of cutting it. That is why beige has outlasted every trend that came for it.

  3. It hides dust, unlike white
The thing white cannot do. A beige pair looks worn-in rather than dirty, and that buys you a whole extra season.

Choosing the right beige

There is a real gap between a cool sand and a warm cream. Hold the shoe against the pants you wear most. If the beige is cooler than your khakis it will read gray next to them, and the pairing falls flat.

In suede the color reads deeper and more forgiving. In faux leather it reads cleaner and sharper. Both are well represented here, and the choice is more about upkeep than about the shade.
