Why square rather than round

It sounds like a detail and it changes how the shoe walks.

1. More ground under you
   A square face puts more rubber on the sidewalk than a tapered heel of the same height. You feel it after the first hour.

2. It reads modern
   The straight lines of a square heel sit well with the straight lines of a wide-leg pant. A round heel leans more classic.

3. It comes in wearable heights
   Most of these sit under two inches, which is the range you can keep on from morning to evening.

What to check before you order

Look at where the heel sits under the shoe. Set right under the back of the foot it feels planted. Set slightly behind, it looks taller and feels less sure.

And check the topline. A heeled slip-on with a high-cut opening holds the foot. A low-cut one will slip at the back with every step, and no size change will fix it.
